LOS ANGELES – For the past week, the boxing world has credited Michael Farneas as rapper 50 Cent’s party crasher, after he knocked out the musician turned boxing promoter’s fighter Mark Davis at an ESPN televised fight celebrating 50 Cent’s birthday.

The victory earned Farenas another title, “Number One Contender”.

The win gives him a shot at the winner of the Argenis Mendez-Rances Barthelemy IBF Junior Lightweight title fight taking place in Florida.

Farenas said that he was happy about the big win and is hoping to be able to get a world title.

The younger Davis was heavily favored to win, but “Hammer Fists” dominated the fight stopping the American in the eighth round.

It was Davis’ first career loss as the 30-year-old from Sorsogon increased his record to 38 wins, four losses, four draws, and one no decision.

He explained that from the beginning of the fight he was confident and knew right away he could take Davis’ punches and beat him with experience.

The Gerry Penalosa protege visited to the Wild Card Gym on Wednesday, meeting with his co-trainer Marvin Simodio as well as another Filipino contender Drian Francisco.

Farenas will return to the Philippines on Thursday.

While no date has been set for his title fight, he will begin preparing for his title shot after a well earned rest.
