He came, he rang and after 105 straight hours—nearly five full days—a Filipino now shares the world record for the longest bell ringing.
Salvation Army volunteer bell ringer Butch Soriano is one of three bell ringers to ring for 105 hours straight.
Two other bell ringers—one in Minnesota and another in Texas—also rang for 105 hours straight in a competition and a fundraiser that started on Tuesday.
Soriano’s previous high was 51 hours while the old record was 80 hours.
During the holidays the Salvation Army collects donations with a bell ringer outside of shopping centers. The funds that go into the red kettle are used for the Salvation Army’s programs that serve the needy.
