Pinoy athletes nominated for ESPN’s 2014 ESPY Awards

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Two prominent Filipino sports figures were again nominated by the coveted ESPYS or the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly award.

Philippine boxing champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is among the 2014 ESPYS nominees for Best Fighter for regaining the WBO welterweight title after a decisive win against Timothy Bradley on a rematch after their controversial 2012 fight.

Floyd Mayweather is also one of the nominees in this category.

Filipino American Raymond Martin also made the cut as one of this year’s nominees for Best Male Athlete with Disability.

Martin became the first man to win five gold medals at an International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics Championship.

Where he took the titles for T-52 100 M, 200 M, 400 M, 800 M and 1,500 Meter races.

Martin, the 2013 United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Male Paralympic Athlete of the Year also swept the same five events at the US Paralympic Track and Field National Championship last year.

Sports fans can now vote for their favorite athlete on the ESPYS website.
