The Philippines’ Princess Mary Superal won the US Golf Associations’ Junior Girls World Championships Saturday afternoon in Arizona in a sudden death overtime match. The coveted tournament is regarded as one of the top amateur tournaments in the world.

Balitang America spoke to her last week at the Callaway Junior World Championships in San Diego. She spoke about how it feels to be one of the few Filipinos to qualify for the US Girls Championships.

“Sana na nalo, hopefully. Hopefully,” said the soft spoken 17-year-old, as she finished 10th at the Callaway tournament.

Superal left shortly after the Callaway to begin the week long USGA tournament in San Diego.

Superal beat Mexico’s Marijosse Navarro in the 37-hole finale.
