LAS VEGAS — The New Orleans Hotel and Casino played host to 110 competitors from all over the world. Professional pool players came together for this year’s Asian Culture Day Pool Tournament to battle it out and earn some cash.
Roberto Gomez, Dennis Orcollo and James Aranas represented team Philippines.
Orcollo, who currently ranks 3rd in the Billiard Congress of America, says that there is no cue match like Vegas. It was in 2012 when Orcollo won the U.S. Open 10 ball championship.
This up & coming billiard sensation is only 26 years old and he’s Pinoy — James Aranas earned the top nod of the tournament, following in the footsteps of the world’s greatest pool players.
Aranas took home $13,000 at the 10 ball championship game against Ian Fleming of England.
Aranas’ humble beginnings only push him more to rise above challenges, and further make his mark in the world of billiards.
Aranas placed 1st, Fleming came in 2nd, and Orcollo came in 3rd. Orcollo took home $3,500.
