REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A measles outbreak that reportedly killed more than two dozen children in the Philippines last year has made its way to North America.
Toronto Public Health alerted clinicians on Monday after doctors determined that a 1-year-old caught the measles while visiting Manila.
This was the sixth reported case of measles in Canada this year, all linked to the Philippines.
Officials advised clinicians to protect patients using two doses of measles vaccine.
The Philippine Department of Health reported over 1,700 measles cases last year. The majority were in Metro Manila.
