REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – For the second year in a row the Philippines is joining the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Philippine’s bet to win the competition was the band called Brat Pack.

Brat Pack has four members: David de Koenigswarter on base; RJ Pineda on keyboard; Xtine Mercado on vocals; and Allan Abdulla on drums.

The Philippine-based band members are all in their early 20s, and belong to music-oriented families.

The Philippine blues society says they are confident Brat Pack can compete with the best of the best.

“This gives the opportunity to our Filipino bands to go global, so that the music of the Filipinos will be heard all over the world,” Philippine Blues Society’s Allan Magturo said.
