BA has confirmed that former Philippine Senator Jinggoy Estrada is in the US, and currently in the San Francisco, even after efforts from the group US Pinoys for Good Governance to block his trip.
USPGG is crying foul after Estrada used an invitation by the USPGG for him to speak in Michigan on Philippine affairs, as part of his documents to apply for a travel motion to go to the US,
But the USPGG said that invitation did not come from their group, but from an individual who misrepresented himself.
Philippine state prosecutors from the office of the ombudsman have asked the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan to order Estrada to explain why he should not be cited in contempt for allegedly making false claims just to secure the court’s permission to travel to the US.
USPGG President Rodel Rodis sent a response to BA, saying, “Since the former senator is still on trial for plunder for the theft of p183 million pesos, we hope that the Sandiganbayan would reconsider its decision in the interest of good governance, and revoke its permission for Estrada to travel to the US. But wherever Estrada goes in the US, we will confront him with rallies and demand that he immediately return the P183 million pesos he stole from the Filipino people, and that he serve time for his crime.”
Besides pushing through with his speaking engagement in Michigan this month, Estrada also said he scheduled for medical check-ups and vacation time with his family while he’s here.
