REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – In a statement from the Aquino government, the President is grateful for the support of allies all over the world as the Philippines continues to fight against China over some territories in the West Philippine Sea.
Malacanang spokesperson Herminio Coloma says the Philippines has found new courage as it continues to deal with China’s so-called bullying in the disputed areas because of the support of key allies like the United States, Australia, and Japan.
These countries have expressed support for the Philippines’ efforts to settle the dispute with China peacefully.
During the recent 13th Asia Security Summit held in Singapore, these Philippine allies have affirmed the importance of respecting the rule of law as the key to regional stability.
Coloma says, “We are encouraged by the supportive statements of our allies and other countries on the importance of seeking peaceful settlement of disputes, which is precisely the course of action we have chosen to adopt.”
