PH Embassy in DC opens doors for first-ever tourism showcase

WASHINGTON DC – For the first time, the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC opened its doors to the public to showcase what the 7,107 islands of Philippines have to offer.

More than 6,000 visitors came to the open house last Saturday to experience why it’s more fun the Philippines.

Yolanda Silva said, “I love the Embassy of the Philippines.”

Organized by the District of Columbia Cultural Tourism Office, the annual “Passport DC: Around the World Embassy Tour” is participated in by more than 50 embassies.

Dubbed by Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Cuisia Jr as “cultural diplomacy at its best”, it featured colorful Pinoy traditional dances that gave the event a fiesta-like atmosphere.

Tinikling lessons were a big hit among non-Filipinos who tried them for the first time.

A non-Filipino attendee said, “Yeah, it was a lot fun, you know, we got to try the traditional dance, it was definitely a learning experience.”

Paete wood carvers impressed visitors with their skillful wood and fruit sculptures.

A Philippine Embassy spokesperson said that a number of visitors have expressed their plans to visit the Philippines after attending the open house.

Meantime, the second most powerful executive in the Philippines was seen “jogging” steps away from the White House – the beacon of power in the free world.

Philippine Vice President Jejomar Binay tweeted that “an early morning run is, after all, a hard habit to break.”

Now whether he means it in the figurative sense, the vice president who isn’t shy about his aspirations for higher office didn’t explain further.

In a statement, Binay noted that while Americans are on top of the list of foreign visitors to the Philippines – totaling 642,626 last year — they were mostly balikbayans.

Binay also commended the Philippine Embassy for a job well done promoting the Philippines.

“We need to do more of this,” he said. “We need to be more creative in attracting more foreign tourists to visit the Philippines.”

    VP Binay is trying to established his connections with the WH, that is the correct approach. But at the UN chismis, the Globalist(One World Gov’t) is prospecting a Female, as their next Presidential candidate …..Abangan ninyo kung sino siya….
