REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Philippine consulate officials in the Midwest are investigating if any Filipino students were hurt in a Missouri school bus accident Tuesday that sent dozens of kids to the hospital.
The Missouri highway patrol says the school bus rolled into a ditch near the city of Ewing about 125 miles northwest of St. Louis.
According to the Lewis County School District, 26 of the 30 students on the bus were injured.
A representative of one of the hospitals that treated the injured students says most have been released.
Chicago’s Philippine Consul General Leo Herrera says more than 17,000 Filipinos live in Missouri, with a high concentration of them in the St. Louis area.
For now, Herrera says they found no Filipinos living in the town of Ewing.
