PH Comelec aims to register a million OAVs for 2016 elections

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – The Philippine Commission on Elections is targeting to register around one million overseas Filipinos.

Overseas absentee voting registration for the 2016 presidential elections started Tuesday and will go on until Oct. 31, 2015.

Who are eligible to register to vote?

-All citizens of the philippines abroad who are not otherwise disqualified by law

-Those at least 18 years old on the day of the elections…

What positions are up for votes?




-Party-List representatives

There are an estimated 12 million overseas Filipinos.

But according to the Comelec, only around 700,000 of them are registered to vote as of the 2013 polls.

In the US, more than 100,000 registered in the 2013 polls but only more than 14,000 actually voted.
