Palawan church aided, rebuilt from Fil-Am donations

PUERTO PRINCESA — The parishioners of this remote church in Palawan, Philippines have only one wish this 2018: to unite the people of 4 barangays in the mountains of Puerto Princesa, through a multi-purpose townhall building.

Years ago, termites completely destroyed what used to be a covered structure on this paved ground.

Thanks to the generous donations of Filipino Americans in Connecticut, the FALCONN Pamana Project has broken ground at the St. Ezekiel Moreno Parish in Puerto Princesa.

While FALCONN is donating P400,000 pesos, or $8,000 dollars, for the construction materials, volunteers from barangay will be taking part in physically building the structure.

“Mararamdaman nila na talagang tumulong sila na, maipakita nila tulad ng sumunod na henerasyon, mga anak nila, mga apo nila, so maaalagan talaga nila kasi sila yung talagang naghirap gumawa rin,” said president Eddie Manongsong.

For the millennial daughters of FALCONN OFW’s, it’s all about giving back for the blessing their parents receive as they work hard in America.

“Hindi naman po always naging maganda yung buhay ng parents namin, marami rin po silang pinagdaanan, so para pong ito yung way na, chance po ito na mag lookback and magbigay din po for other people na mandating kung saan sila nakadating ngayon,” said Gavrielle Magtibay.

“Dun mo ma-realize na you’re still blessed, whatever you have na is a blessing to you. Always try to give back, hindi mo naman mabibigay kung wala ka, so its okay if you can’t but whatever is possible, there is always a way na makakapag-giveback ka sa ibang tao,” said Therese Magtibay.

The multipurpose structure is projected to be completed by March.

FALCONN is a duly registered 501c3 non-profit organization in Connecticut. Donations or requests for assistance such as this one can be found on FAL-CONN.org.
