Pacquiao’s visit to Canada promotes Philippine basketball league

Pacquiao-mania took over Calgary, when Filipino boxing legend and Senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao visited the city and Canada for the first time.

The world’s only eight-division boxing champion was in town to promote the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, or MBPL, which he founded in August 2017.

Pacquiao admitted basketball was actually his first love.

“Love ko talaga ang basketball. Mali lang ang kontratang napirmahan ko. (Laughter). Akala ko basketball, boxing pala. Kaya naging boxer ako.”

“I really love basketball. I just signed a different contract. I thought it was for basketball. But it was for boxing so I became a boxer.”

Aside from his basketball projects, the Senator plans to return to boxing in April 2020.

Pacquiao said he plans to bring the Maharlika basketball league not only to the Philippines, but to other countries as well.

Pacquiao and the whole MBPL delegation also went to Edmonton to play for more Canadian fans.
