SAN FRANCISCO – As Manny Pacquiao announced his decision to partner with the Chinese government to train Chinese boxers many kababayans now question if he would even have the time to tackle this new project if he’s already swamped with his other responsibilities as a boxer, PBA coach, entertainer, and elected official.

But Pacquiao says he has it all under control.

“Time management,” says Pacquiao. “Time management…we can do all things.”

But will this new partnership with China cause Pacquiao to incur more absences in Congress?

According to the House of Representatives attendance records for the 15th Congress, Pacquiao was present in only 98 out of 168 sessions. He was absent without notice for 37 sessions, excused for work for 23 sessions, and deemed present for 10 sessions.

Even his coach Freddie Roach is confident Pacquiao can handle his even busier schedule.

Roach says the boxing academy in China will be mostly run by Manny’s assistants like Buboy Fernandez.

“Pretty much it’s not really Manny Pacquiao running the gym so much,” said Roach. “It’s his people running the gym and making sure it’s being ran professionally and correctly. So Manny has to actually hire people that are really good at it and good trainers and so far so a lot of his assistants like Buboy and those guys will get jobs working in these gyms.”

Pacquiao has remained evasive when asked about how much he’s going to earn as trainer and mentor for China’s up and coming fighters.

But he says this new partnership will ease tensions between the Philippines and China as both countries face off over territories in the West Philippine Sea.

The U.S. Pinoys for Good Governance says this shows Pacquiao’s elementary understanding of the dispute. The group plans to send Pacquiao materials on the territorial dispute so he may reconsider his partnership with China.

Is Manny Pacquiao taking on more responsibility than he can handle?

Manny, don’t even think that the Chinese will listen to you. They will only use you to make Macau the boxing capital of the world. Your boxing contract with China will have no effect with South China Sea conflict. They will not even listen to you or ask for your advise. If I were you, it will be more wiser for you to take the Philippine Olympic Sports Committee President position because you are the most qualified person to handle the position.
