LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Whenever Floyd Mayweather Jr. fights Manny Pacquiao’s name always comes up. It’s a given that boxing fans
await what Mayweather has to say about a possible future match with his Filipino rival.
But this time, the story was different.
At the Mayweather-Guerrero bout for the WBC Welterweight Championship, Pacman’s name was never mentioned.
When asked who will be their next opponent in September, Floyd Mayweather Sr. said their camp is ready for any opponent.
Rumor has it that Canelo Alvarez will be the next opponent of Mayweather Jr. come September.
This means that the Pacquiao-Mayweather dream match is still far from reality.
“So far, just like what he said in 44 names. All of them quick sand,” said Mayweather Sr.
“As far as opponents I actually believe they think they can win but it’s different when you are inside [the ring],” added Mayweather Jr.
Meanwhile, Top Rank confirmed that Pacquiao will be fighting on November 24 at the weight of 147 against Brandon “Bam Bam” rios who recently lost to Mike Alvarado.
The Pacquiao-Rios fight will happen in Macau, China.
