LOS ANGELES — A few last rounds on the mitts, double bags, and speed bag Manny Pacquiao is ready and Vegas bound.
“I’m very satisfied of our training here in Wild Card gym with Freddie Roach, team Pacquiao, we’re very happy of the result, of my condition and excited for the fight.”
Before hitting the road, Pacquiao gave a present — a pair of his signature shoes — to one of his sparmates, Arnold Gonzales.
The 24-year-old Gonzales wasn’t born yet when the Pacman began his legendary career.
But more important than the gear, the New York fighter who has yet to fight professionally says he got priceless lessons.
“I learned a lot and more than anything confidence-wise, it just gave me a huge boost know I’m there with not only Pacquiao, but George as well. They’re both really good fighters and I was able to hang with them.”
Gonzales will make his pro debut next month. He’ll travel with the team to support the Pacman and another.
Sparmate George Kambosos will be an undercard fighting Filipino Rey Perez.
For the next week this portion of the Wild Card gym will be empty. If the Pacman returns, is yet to be seen. For the past two weeks, Pacquiao has been telling reporters that’s he’s looking at his career on a fight by fight basis.
