The epic Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel IV got its third “Fight of the Year” honor yesterday.
After being named by ESPN and Yahoo! Sports as “Fight of the Year”, it got its third straight vote and was declared by The Ring
Magazine as the best fight of 2012.
Pacquiao-Marquez IV garnered 56.7 percent of fan votes in The Ring Magazine’s year-end poll, beating the exciting Brandon Rios and
Mike Alvarado brawl, which had 23.1 percent of the votes.
The 39-year-old Marquez shockingly dropped Pacquiao for the first time in four fights in the third round of the fourth encounter with a vicious right to the head.
Pacquiao stood up and retaliated. He dropped Marquez in the fifth round, the fifth time Marquez got dropped in his encounters with the 34-year-old Filipino superstar, and also bloodied his nose.
As Pacquiao was dominating the fight, Marquez sneaked in a devastating counter right straight to the jaw of Pacquiao and dropped him motionless and face first to the canvass in the last second of the sixth round.
