STRATFORD, NJ – Critics may have labeled the President’s Social Fund (PSF) as Aquino’s own version of the “pork barrel fund.”

But the President says none of them has accused him of misuse or abuse of his own so called “pork.”

Aquino is now instructing the Presidential Management Staff to release the details of where the PSF funds were used saying that he has been careful in using the fund since he took office.

“Napansin ba n’yong walang nagsabi na may misuse ang president’s social fund? Pero pinapatanggal. Hindi maintindihan ano ang logic noon,” Aquino said, “I-authorize natin. Ipapalabas ko sa PMS saan ba ginastos over the three years that I have served as President at gaano na kalaki ang pondo dahil napakasinop, napaka-maingat nating gastusin ‘yan.”
Aquino also rejected critic’s call to itemize his social fund saying it’s impossible to do so since it’s also impossible to predict its future use especially when it comes to calamities.

“Paano mo ia-itemize ‘yung calamity fund bago dumating ‘yung calamity fund?” Aquino said, “Meron ka dapat talagang standby na pondo diyan pantugon doon sa pagdating ng sakuna na hindi naman natin syempre pwede ma-predict,” he added.

Meantime, kababayans in Southern New Jersey say Aquino may not have misused his social funds but that’s not enough to eradicate the “culture of corruption” in the Philippines. “President Aquino, has a lot of good things he can do, but if he’s surrounded by other politicians, he can’t do much,” said Hermie Aczon of Mount Laurel, New Jersey.

Community leader Senen Fontanilla of Stratford, NJ said as if nothing has happened since Aquino took office.

Kababayans in this area say, President Aquino’s “Daang matuwid” will remain just a campaign slogan and that the changes in the Philippine government that every Filipino is hoping for would have to start from within each and every Filipino.
