To be clear, “Tagalog” and “Filipino” are not the same language, and should therefore not be used interchangeably. The former is the language of Central and Southern Luzon, while the latter is the National Language of the Philippines that incorporates loan words from the hundreds of dialects in the country as well as from English, Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese sources.
