REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A Filipino-American man in Oregon has become the third generation in his family to be accused of murder.
In 1981, Ward Weaver Jr. was convicted in the murder of a motorist in California, as well as the rape and murder of that motorist’s fiancé.
In 2001, Weaver Jr.’s son, Ward Weaver III, was also convicted in the rape and killings of two Oregon City girls.
Now, Weaver III’s son Francis has become the third generation in his family to be accused of murder.
Francis’ mother, maria, is Filipino.
Authorities in Canby, Ore. arrested the 31-year-old in the shooting death of 43-year-old Edward Kelly Spangler early Sunday.
During a drug deal, Spangler was reportedly shot multiple times.
Besides Francis, two other suspects were arrested in Spangler’s death.
