On International Human Rights Day, activists call for end to abuses in the Philippines

Throughout northern and southern California, Filipinos raised awareness on U.S. and Philippine issues as it joined several actions.

In San Mateo, members of the Filipino American Human Rights Alliance joined a multicultural celebration of the 70th anniversary of International Human Rights Day.

The group addressed issues including immigration, and the migrant caravan, writing letters to the asylum seekers.

More actions took place in downtown San Francisco where the Malaya Movement and the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines held a rally and sang Christmas carols, calling for an end to human rights abuses in the Philippines.

In Southern California, a handful of Filipino activists protested outside the Philippine consulate.

As some groups protested the Duterte government, supporters of president Duterte joined senatorial bet and former PNP head general Ronald Bato Dela Rosa in Las Vegas to show their support for the president and his war on drugs.

Dela Rosa will also meet with more of his supporters in Los Angeles later this week.
