REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – President Barack Obama closed out his nine-day trip abroad by taking questions from reporters following the end of the ASEAN summit in Malaysia on Sunday.
His words about ISIS: We will destroy them.
Obama took a harsher tone than usual, calling the group responsible for the Paris terror attacks “a bunch of killers with good social media.”
He vowed the US will continue to lead the global coalition to take down the group.
“We will not accept the idea that terrorist assaults on restaurants and theaters and hotels are the new normal or that we are powerless to stop them,” he said. “We will cut off their financing, we will hunt down their leadership. We will dismantle their networks and their supply lines and we will ultimately destroy them.”
A new poll, however, shows that most Americans aren’t too happy with the way Obama has been dealing with ISIS and terror threats in general.
The new poll by The Washington Post and ABC News shows 57 percent disapprove of Obama’s handling of ISIS, while 35 percent approve.
The poll also showed that 54 percent disapprove of how the president handles the threat of terrorism, with 40 percent saying they approve.
Meanwhile, the same poll found that among the presidential frontrunners, more Americans trust Hillary Clinton to handle the terror threats than any of the GOP presidential candidates.
A Pew research poll says just 19 percent of Americans surveyed trust the government most or all of the time.
Pew says that’s close to the lowest level in the past 60 years.
If you still believe that he would defeat ISIS, you are either naive, a fool or both.
