CHICAGO, IL — An estimated 20,000 people gathered at the McCormick Place on January 10 — the largest convention center in North America — to witness a historic moment: the outgoing President’s farewell speech.

Obama, the 44th president of the US–who served eight years–is passing the baton to President-elect Donald Trump, who will be inaugurated later this month.

Obama delivered his hour-long farewell speech in his hometown Chicago.

“Going forward, we must uphold laws against discrimination in hiring, in housing, in education and the criminal justice system,” he said. ” That’s what our Constitution and highest ideals require.  But laws alone won’t be enough.  Hearts must change.”

“If our democracy is to work in this increasingly diverse nation, each one of us must try to heed the advice of one of the great characters in American fiction, Atticus Finch, who said, ‘You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view…until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.”

Supporter Nicholas Reid says Obama’s farewell speech was meaningful and consistent.

“It was really moving to see — to hear him go over the same message that he had when we were electing him, and when we elected him.”

“Young people need to get involved; they need to participate in their democracy,” Reid said. “They need to read real news. Don’t be on social media too much. Participate, protest, get on the streets for causes you believe in, and make sure you engage.”

“I feel very happy about what we’ve accomplished. I hope that we continue to fight and work harder,” said supporter Anne Shaw.

Obama supporters say that although they will miss the outgoing President, they remain hopeful for the nation’s future.

It took 200 years for America to reach a $10 Trillion National Debt. Obama added another $10 Trillion for a period of 8 years. Trump start his Presidency with $20 Trillion in National debt and promised more jobs.Under Obama’s regime there are 96 Million American NOT working, highest unemployment rate in American history and the Democrat lost more than 1000 electoral seats to the GOP, sad to say Obama destroyed the Democrat Party. Hillary Clinton will be the guaranteed winner as the next Mayor of New York.It was Obama’s failed policy as President that made Trump elected as President. Barack will take over the leadership of the Democrat Party in preparation for Michelle as first women President.
