REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – President Barack Obama’s is adding using his executive power to get more overtime pay for millions of workers to his do-it-himself wishlist for 2014.

On Thursday the president will ask the Labor Department to revamp overtime pay regulations for fast food managers, loan officers, computer technicians and other employees, who are classified by their companies as “executives” or “professionals.”

Currently, businesses are prohibited from denying overtime pay to a salaried worker making less than $455 per week.

Obama is proposing to raise that salary threshold, but for now it is not clear by how much.

The move could bring opposition from small business groups.
