New York passes bill that provides free college tuition for middle-class families

In New York, Pinoy parents are expressing their gratitude after the state passed a first of its kind bill in the nation that provides free college tuition to students coming from middle-class families.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed on Wednesday a legislation enacting a first-in-the-nation program to provide tuition-free college in New York, for families making less than $125,000 dollars a year.

The governor named the law after the motto of New York – “excelsior” — which means ever upwards.
