NEW YORK – A Filipina from Queens, New York, affected by a cancelled Philippine Airlines flight to Manila is suing the Philippines’ flagship carrier for $10 million.
Lead plaintiff Cherliyn Darilag filed a class action lawsuit at a New York superior court.
The May 17 flight was cancelled due to maintenance checks.
In the lawsuit, Darilag claims there was no PAL representative to assist with hotel accommodations.
She says the next day’s subsequent flight was grounded again for mechanical problems – and it turned out it was the same plane.
Although passengers were given flight vouchers to take other airlines, Darilag claims these were not honored.
To date, Darilag says she has not left for Manila and she claims she has not received any communication from PAL.
On May 20, PAL official Leah Trinidad told ABS-CBN News that all those passengers have been accommodated on later flights.
PAL officials have not responded to ABS-CBN News’ request for comment at this time.
