New York consulate honors distinguished Filipino women for their achievements

NEW YORK — In celebration of National Women’s History Month, the Philippine consulate honored three distinguished Filipino women in New York — an anti-corruption icon, a woman in uniform, and a social media influencer.

For her fearless stance against corruption and waste in the Philippine government, and for becoming the first Filipino to be appointed as undersecretary general at the United Nations – Heidi Mendoza was honored with the distinguished Filipino woman in public service award by Consul General Claro Cristobal.

Major Jessica Alina Persad was honored for her distinguished service in the Air Force National Guard, as she is among the few Filipinas to do so.

Or her power of influence on social media as a food blogger, Erin Robles was also honored as one of this year’s distinguished Filipinas in the Big Apple.

With more than 75,000 followers on Instagram, not only has she monetized her influence online, but she has used this platform to showcase her Filipino roots.

Whether its busting corrupt officials, protecting the nation from threats, influencing or setting trends, these distinguished Filipinas are recognized for making a difference in their own fields while inspiring others along the way.
