REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – As President Benigno Aquino III prepares to deliver his State of the Nation Address this weekend, a new Pulse Asia survey showed his administration getting low scores on issues Filipinos deem important.

The survey shows that 41 percent of the people disapprove of the way the Aquino administration has controlled inflation; only 26 percent approved on the president’s performance on this issue.

On the issue of reducing poverty, 33 percent disapproved of the way the Aquino administration has handled it, while only 32 percent approved.

But the Aquino administration got high scores — 54 percent approval — on how it has fought criminality.

Only 14 percent disapproved of how the Philippine government handled the issue.
