New banners honor Filipino community in San Francisco cultural heritage district

SAN FRANCISCO — Just in time to celebrate Filipino American History Month, banners featuring the Filipino community are flying over San Francisco.

250 banners are spread throughout the Filipino cultural heritage district, which is located in the city’s South of Market neighborhood.

The banners highlight families, the youth, seniors, artists, and workers that all live and contribute within the cultural district.

The banners will also feature Tagalog words — accompanied by an English translation and baybayin script.

This is all part of a campaign to gain visibility for SOMA Pilipinas.
