MANILA – National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Nonnatus Rojas urged the brother of Janet Lim Napoles, Reynald Lim, to surrender to authorities now that her sister is in police custody. The search for Lim is still ongoing, but Rojas urged the fugitive to peacefully surrender.

Sana ay sumuko na din siya para matahimik na at malagay sa dapat na kalalagyan ang mga akusado, he told dzMM on Thursday.

Lim and Napoles went missing when they were ordered arrested for serious illegal detention charges on August 14. But on Wednesday night, August 28, Napoles surfaced and surrendered to President Aquino.

Malacañang said Napoles felt that her life was in danger and wanted the President’s assurance that she will be protected.

The NBI was kept in the dark on the circumstances of Napoles surrender, but Rojas said it was expected because the agency was the one tasked to investigate the P10 billion pork barrel scam, which was allegedly masterminded by Napoles.

Maiintindihan natin kung bakit kasi unang-una ang NBI ang nag-iimbestiga sa kanila at yung mga whistleblowers na tinatawag ay nandito nga po at maaaring hindi sila komportable kung dito sila made-detain, said Rojas.
Now that Napoles is in custody, Rojas said he will ensure her safety.

Susundin naming ang kautusan ng korte at gagawin namin ang aming makakaya para ma-ensure ang kaligtasan nila, he said.
A P5 million bounty for information leading to the arrest of Lim still stands.
Napoles’ lawyer, Lorna Kapunan, earlier said Lim will also surrender to authorities soon.
