Napoles asks court to defer Sept. 9 arraignment

MANILA – Janet Lim Napoles, the businesswoman at the center of the the multi-billion peso pork barrel scam, has asked the Makati City Regional Trial Court to postpone her arraignment.

Napoles is facing serious illegal detention case filed by key pork barrel scam whistleblower, Benhur Luy.

The arraignment is set for September 9, but Napoles’ camp said it should be deferred since she still has pending motions with the Court of Appeals and the Makati RTC Branch 150.

Napoles’ brother and co-accused, Reynald Lim, also asked the Makati court to temporarily suspend his hearing.

Napoles is currently detained at Fort Santo Domingo in Laguna. – ANC
