REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Balitang America found out that a man making headlines in the Philippines as the brains behind a recently foiled bombing attempt at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, had roots here in the U.S. as an immigration lawyer and publisher.

Ely Pamatong, a former presidential nuisance candidate, admitted to being partially responsible for three men who threw explosives at NAIA Terminal 3 on Sept. 1.

In the 90s, Pamatong practiced immigration law out his office in San Francisco.

He also published a local tabloid that promoted his political activities and law practice.

Pamatong was arrested last Wednesday – not for the foiled bombing, but for an inciting to sedition case involving supporters who scattered metal spikes along EDSA in 2004 after his bid for the presidency failed.

He has since posted bail.
