Mueller breaks silence on Trump-Russia investigation

Amid demands that he testify in public, Special Counsel Robert Mueller finally spoke up about his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and whether President Donald Trump obstructed justice.

Mueller said he was speaking out because his investigation is complete, and that his office is “formally closing.”

He did not charge president Donald Trump of a crime because he could not. Mueller spoke at the justice department in Washington DC — his first public comments on his investigation into russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

“If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime we would have said so. We did not, however, make a determination as to whether the president did commit a crime… The special counsel’s office is part of the Department of Justice and by regulation, it was bound by that department policy. Charging the president with a crime was therefore not an option we could consider.”

Mueller, who is resigning from the DOJ, said he would not give any more information about the investigation and that the 448-page report should speak for itself.

Fil-Am former state congressman Jeff Coleman said the mounting political pressure could have contributed to Mueller’s decision to break more than two years of silence.

“We’re going into a presidential year. There is a great deal of turmoil certainly on the democratic side sorting out the primary. I think director Mueller felt compelled to have some kind of a definitive statement that would offer some clarity or a path for people who are involved in the political process.”

Almost immediately, president Donald Trump took to Twitter to say that nothing had changed and there was insufficient evidence and therefore in our country a person is innocent — he stressed, the case is closed.

But just as fast, some Democrats and one Republican congressman called on Congress to begin impeachment proceedings against the president. With house judiciary committee chairman Jerry Nadler vowing that Congress will take action, noting that Mueller made it clear that it is their job to investigate high crimes and misdemeanors.

“The opinion explicitly permits the investigation of a sitting president because it is important to preserve evidence while memories are fresh and documents available. Among other things that evidence could be used if there were co-conspirators who could be charged now. And second, the opinion says that the constitution requires a process other than the criminal justice system to formally accuse a sitting president of wrongdoing.”

The report outlined 10 instances in which trump tried to impede the investigation, but Mueller declined to make a judgment on whether Trump obstructed justice.

Coleman said unseating a president should be decided by votes.

“I don’t think impeachment would be a wise move for them right now. It would a big national distraction and add to a circus atmosphere that many people believe has become our national politics.”

Political expert Cheryl Quinio Blodgett said that the Democratic leadership is in a tough place.

“How will this be perceived by the public is one of the things the Democrats have to think about, will this look like a political stunt? Will this look like business as usual what Trump has been saying that this is a witch hunt that trying to get Trump for anything they can get, or is this true justice being served.”

Meanwhile, there is a split among Democratic leaders on whether they should still issue a subpoena for Mueller to testify before Congress.

Mueller surrounded by 13 HClinton lawyers and 6 Democrat donors lawyers failed to prove that Russia help Trump to win the election. The decision was “NO Russian Collusion, No Obstruction” and he is formally closing his office. It took 2 years and cost $40M of taxpayers money and Trump said “CASE is CLOSED. Democrat were crying so badly, thought HClinton will become the legal President after the Mueller report. Half of the Congressional Democrat want to revive the investigation and the other half want impeachment. As Trump said “There must be accountability, this Russian hoax must never happen to another Prez.” It means future outgoing Prez will repeat this again, if their party losses election. It might be “Chinese Collusion”.. It should be STOP now..To unseat or overthrow a duly elected Prez,is TREASON. Grand Jury should prove, investigate if there is Treason. Attempt to spread Fake news to unseat a Prez is also Treasons. Let the Grand jury issues thousand sub-poena, Mueller issued 500 sub-poena.
