Mixed feelings from Pacquiao’s advisers, friends on senatorial bid

NEW YORK – Manny Pacquiao’s next fight could be his last. That is, if he wins a senatorial bid in 2016.

Pacquiao said he is filing his certificate of candidacy for senator when he comes home from his New York trip.

Pacquiao said, “I believe na mas marami pa akong tao na matulungan.

He added that he still hasn’t finalized with which political party he’ll align himself.

“Wala pa,” he said. “I-announce ko na lang pag file ko.”

“I love Manny and I think whatever office he runs for he’ll do a terrific job. So the next step is Senate. I wish him the best. Then if God’s willing, he’ll run for president,” said Top Rank CEO Bob Arum.

Meantime, Pacquiao’s friend, Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson, said he disapproves of the fighting congressman’s decision to seek higher office.

He said Pacquiao does not need to be a senator to help his kababayans. He also said that higher office could even ruin Pacquiao’s career. Still, Singson said he supports Pacquiao’s decision just the same.

Pacquiao believes he can do more as a senator.

“Unang-una, pagbaba ng buwis sa indibidual. Tapos, importante yung reduce poverty, provide jobs sa ating mga kababayan. Maraming walang trabaho,” he said.

Pacquiao may not have the best attendance record in Philippine Congress but he is proud of his other record.

“We cannot please everybody,” he said. “Isa lang ang ipinagmamalaki ko, taas noo ako na malinis yung hangarin ko at kahit anong sabihin nila, yung pagtulong ko nandiyan dahil diyan ako galing kung saan ako nanggaling.”

Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz said, “You know, he’s going to be certainly one of the few politicians that is not involved in corruption and he’s going to find ways to help his people of the Philippines.”

But before his 2016 political fight, Pacquiao said he is ready to train as early as November for a fight that could be set on March 2016.

A Pacquiao-Mayweather rematch is a possibility but nothing is set in stone at this time.

So Pacquiao’s supposed last fight before the May 2016 Philippine elections is still a guessing game.

The last boxing match between Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather has brought dishonor to boxing…the fight was well staged so that the two will fight a 12-round match occasionally throwing punches but most of it involved moving around the ring…these two boxers scammed millions of people… Rematch could only mean more scam so that Pacquiao would have enough money for a senatorial bid…win or lose he’ll have enough money to survive…let’s face Filipinos, Pacquiao could barely govern his senate seat…other than passing bags of rice here and there, is General Santos improve? Or the same problem still exist or even worst?
