The body of a man found yesterday morning at Lake Mead — just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada — was confirmed to be that of 22-year-old Fil-Am Wilmer Dante Morales.
Morales was first reported missing by his friends last Friday, May 5 — after he was last seen going into the water to retrieve a raft.
The National Park Service and the Nevada department of wildlife searched Lake Mead’s waters using a remote operated underwater vehicle, which then located the body. The cause of death has yet to be determined.
Morales’s death adds to the long list of lives claimed by Lake Mead, which Outside Magazine reports as the deadliest national recreational park in the country.
Morales was a musician and was involved in his community’s church. According to his Facebook profile, he was also a graduate of Ateneo de Davao university.
