REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Authorities have ended their search for a Filipino woman who was reportedly swept out to sea with her boyfriend during a hike.

Thirty-hour-year-old Noemi Alcotas went hiking with her boyfriend, Jojo Acosta, last Friday in Hanauma Bay trail in Honolulu.

The couple was reported missing after hikers found their bags in a dangerous area, known as Baboons Nose.

Acosta’s body was found in the water later that day.

The intensive search for Alcotas continued, but was finally called off by the coast guard and local fire departments.

Authorities speculate that the victims were washed away by huge waves.
