SEATTLE, WASHINGTON — The body of Filipino American Rene Elamparo, who had been missing since May 14th, was recovered from the city’s Lake Union last Friday.
Authorities say they responded to a 9-1-1 call from a citizen, who noticed a body in the west side of Lake Union.
Seattle’s police and fire departments then recovered the body at around 12:30 in the afternoon.
Officials have since confirmed it to be that of 27-year-old Elamparo.
Seattle police say the death does not appear suspicious, and that there were no obvious signs of trauma at the time of recovery.
The King County medical examiner’s office has yet to release the cause of death.
In a Facebook post, Elamparo’s sister Cathy asked that their family’s privacy be respected at this time, and that memorial plans would soon be announced.
