Meet the two Filipina American candidates running in Nevada

In Nevada, two Filipino Americans, Mindie Lloyd and Tiffany Jones, are still in the race one for the most coveted Nevada state congressional seat, and one a Clark County clerk.

If Jones wins the state senatorial seat, she will be the first Fil-Am state Senator in Nevada’s history.

The secretary of state’s office released the final tally for the 2 weeks of early voting on Saturday, and 40 percent of Nevada’s active voters already have cast their ballots ahead of Tuesday’s general election.

Democrats lead the early voting in Nevada — with 41 percent of the total turnout, compared to 38 percent for Republicans, while independents, non-partisan and other parties made up 21 percent.
