Medicaid cuts affect Pinay cancer patient

LAS VEGAS — This is 45-year-old Lyn Antonio, a single mother, a breast cancer survivor who is now back to being a cancer patient again. She was recently diagnosed with stage 4 bone cancer.

Antonio relies solely on Medicaid and culinary union insurance, that is soon going to end.

She’s paying close attention to Washington since she learned President Donald Trump’s budget proposal and his American Health Care Act — which includes over $800 billion dollars in cuts to Medicaid — something she relies on, along with her culinary union insurance, to cover her costly cancer drug and hospital expenses that run up to $20,000 a month.

“I have Medicaid and culinary insurance sabe nila after August 31st I need work to go back to work, and I should 30 hours per week in order to maintain my insurance… otherwise I need to pay the premium,” she said. “Sabe ng doctor ko in few weeks, I need to rest.”

In a statement, Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez Masto says that Trump’s proposed budget will eliminate health insurance for 376,000 Nevadans by cutting Medicaid by 47 percent by the end of the decade.

Studies also indicate that if the AHCA passes it would allow patients with pre-existing conditions like Antonio to be charged more per year for their insurance coverage.

AHCA has NOT PASSED the Senate floor, maybe next month or end of the year. The GOP are still debating for several changes. Ron Paul want a $1 a day cost of insurance, some GOP want pre-existing condition are require to buy additional insurance, Paul Ryan proposals on medicaid will be removed and it will be the responsibility of the State. The State knew the abled body, lazy individuals, and they will be force to work full time. As of today everything are under Obamacare, if you have problem now with Medicaid, blame Obamacare. Obamacare is falling apart, premium has sky rocketed, that, not everybody can afford to have insurance anymore. For sure, the AHCA will be take effect before the November 2018 election. To passed AHCA now is OK, but to allow the implementation now,is not a good strategy for the GOP. The GOP had just won 5-0 Special Congressional election.Trump is winning on the masses votes, because of jobs creation, fake news does not win election. The GOP does not want to lose the Nov 2018 election, therefore, the AHCA will be much, much better and cheaper.
