REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Authorities are saying Pope Francis’ upcoming US visit will entail unprecedented security measures.
The US Secret Service, the FBI, and local authorities have been coordinating the massive security effort for months, which involves studying how the Pope interacts with crowds.
Pope Francis has said in the past that he prefers to take his chances when it comes to security, if it means being amongst people.
The Popemobile during this US visit will be a modified Jeep Wrangler similar to the one used in Ecuador in July.
New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC will see a surge in uniformed police for the Pope’s visit.
Authorities say at this time there are no specific threats related to the Pope’s trip.
