Inglewood, Calif. – The fight believed to help determine who Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent will be proved to be explosive, however, after the dust settled, the Pacman’s boxing future remained unclear.

The 40-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez showed age was not a factor as he beat Mike Alvarado via unanimous at the Forum in Los Angeles.

Despite knocking down the Mexican American from Colorado, Marquez also took heavy punishment.

But when asked about a fifth fight with Pacquiao, Marquez said that he wants to relax and spend time with his family before planning out his boxing future.

“We’ll take a break first before making any decisions, before closing and signing off on the 5th fight,” Marquez told reporters post-fight. “I’m going to enjoy this victory with my family since I haven’t seen them in almost three and a half months. Honestly I can’t wait to be with them.”

While the fight had been hyped as an elimination match, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum says that there is nothing in the Marquez Alvarado contract that requires or guarantees the winner would fight Pacquiao possibly in Macau later this year.

However experts are optimistic that it will happen.

“Marquez is down for it. Manny is down for it. The way that last one ended manny wants his shot. I’m talking about the knock out of course. There’s a lot of money riding on it,” boxing expert Elie Seckbach of ES News said.

A Filipino-coached fighter also made waves on fight night. In the under card, with Coach Marvin Simodio heading his corner, Ukranian Viktor Postol defeated Selcuk Aydin with an 11th round knock out.

Manny forget Marquez, he has your number Manny? If you fight him again he will knock you out, and guess what your fight with Mayweather will not happen because Mayweather will say who want to fight a wash-up like you Manny. If you fight Mayweather you will make the biggest payday in your life ! So please stop thinking about a fight with Marquez? Look Manny you have to play the some game Mayweather plays stay away from boxers that can hurt you big time. And Marquez can hurt your boxing career and hurt you big time, and he knows that.
