Man arrested after allegedly targeting and scamming other Fil-Ams

A Filipino man from Orange County, Calif. has been arrested in an alleged mortgage fraud phone scam that targeted Filipino-American victims.

According to reports, Sajid Geronimo posed as a loan officer claiming to help Filipinos in Santa Clara who are in danger of losing their homes.

Victims would send him checks because they believed he would help fix their mortgage problems. He would reportedly go as far as sending them back fake approval letters on bank letterheads.

Geronimo was arrested last week at Los Angeles International Airport after arriving from the Philippines and is being held on a $100,000 dollar bail. He appeared in court yesterday but did not enter a plea.
