REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Malacanang has defended the president’s failure to meet with the Filipino community during his working U.S. visit.
Last week, Filipino-American leaders were displeased that President Benigno Aquino did not meet with the community during his visit in San Francisco, but rather was seen at a local gun store, record shop, and hamburger joint.
Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. told Inquirer.net, “We ask for their understanding. The president’s itinerary was quite hectic: 94 events in 11 days in 7 cities across continents and time zones.”
He added that Los Angeles was not on the itinerary from the beginning and he does not know if President Aquino has any plans to visit LA in the future.
Aquino came home from Europe and the U.S. last week, saying that that he had secured some $2.3 billion dollars worth of investment pledged.
