“Lingua Franca,” starring Isabel Sandoval, showcased at Tribeca Film Festival

NEW YORK — A new Filipino-American film makes a groundbreaking screening at Robert de Niro’s Tribeca Film Festival.

Lingua Franca is making its debut as the first American full-length feature film written, directed, and even starring a transgender woman.

The story of Lingua Franca – an immigration drama set in New York – written and directed by Isabel Sandoval, who played the lead role of Olivia.
