Late President George H.W. Bush was a secret pen-pal to a Filipino boy

A heart-warming revelation and a special tie between the late President George H.W. Bush and a Filipino boy.

The late former President Bush, who passed away earlier this month, had secretly sponsored a Filipino child named Timothy for ten years — often exchanging letters, but never revealing his identity.

The pen pal friendship began at a 2001 Christmas concert with the group, Compassion International.

Bush who described himself as an old man from Texas, would sign the letters as G-Walker, as a safety precaution for Timothy.

In some of the letters, bush would hint at his identity, even showing a picture of his dog Sadie at the White House.

And despite the rules, the former president would send over presents.

Compassion International does not know of Timothy’s whereabouts today.

Timothy eventually found out about his sponsor’s identity when he graduated at 17 years old.
