Las Vegas Pinoy faces open murder, grand lacerny charges

LAS VEGAS — A Filipino man is in police custody in connection to the gruesome 2016 discovery of a dead body along an interstate highway, that had been wrapped in a sleeping bag.

32-year-old Christopher Parlade is facing 2 charges of open murder and grand larceny of an auto in the death of Dennis Katz.

In October 2016, Katz’ body was found wrapped in a zip-tied sleeping bag, underneath a couch near Interstate 15.

Officials say the cause of Katz’ death was asphyxia, with blunt force trauma to the head.

Police connected Parlades to the homicide over a year later, in December of 2017, when they found Katz’ stolen 2005 Lexus.

According to the police report, witnesses say there was a physical altercation between Katz and Parlades.

Parlade is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at the justice court. He remains in jail with no bail set.
