Kulintang master passes away in CA

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Danongan “Danny” Kalanduyan more commonly known among his students as Master K, died Wednesday afternoon at the Stanford University Hospital, where he was set to undergo a cardiac procedure.

Kalanduyan had a lifetime of accolades and contributions including a 1996 National Heritage Fellowship Award that recognized him as a “master artist” in American society.

He was presented this award by then first lady and now Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton.

Kalanduyan was 69 years old.
