Damning allegations against Philippine megachurch, Kingdom of Jesus Christ, as a former member of its Hawaii branch is accusing its founder, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, of running a child sex ring.
Kristina Angeles came to Hawaii on a religious visa in 2014 to work for the church’s office in Waipahu.
A few years ago, the missionary from the Philippines was charged for sexually assaulting a 15-year old girl.
But in a recent hearing on her case, Angeles’ lawyer alleged that his client is actually the victim. Deputy public defender Grant Giventer said Angeles was one of a number of minors forced to have sex with Pastor Quiboloy, who calls himself “The Appointed Son of God.”
The church’s Hawaii attorney, Michael Green, called the accusations against Quiboloy a diversion. The trial was supposed to start this month, but the judge delayed it to February — taking into account the counter-charges.
The Kingdom of Jesus Christ is also embroiled in a bulk cash smuggling case involving more than $300,000.
