JR Celski fails to advance in Winter Olympics
The third time was not a charm for Team USA’s Fil-Am short track speed skater JR Celski.
After finishing third in his qualifying round of the 1000-meter race, the 27-year-old from Washington failed to advance to the next round.
Celski was tangled up in a multi-racer crash, caused by interference from an athlete from Russia, and the race was restarted after five minutes.
A couple hours later, Celski and the relay team failed to advance in the 5,000-meter relay race.
The relay team will still have a chance to end on a high note when they compete in the non-medal B round on February 22nd.
This is Celski’s third Winter Games. He told reporters that he was disappointed that won’t be able to compete for a medal.
